Dear Reader,
We want to create here a web space to collect further material somehow related to the subject of the book: "The Birth of String Theory". Please fill free to propose any kind of material and document you think could be helpful for a lively and fruitful discussion on the considered subject, in particular:

• unretrievable works of those times (e.g. unpublished preprints and proceedings)
• personal comments, and discussion of scientific ideas;
• memories on the theoretical physics community of those times.

The project of the book stemmed from a conference organized by the ``Seminar of Physics and Philosophy'' of Florence University. Further details on this conference can be found at the Florence Meeting web page.

The subject of the book was first reviewed from an historical perspective in "The Birth of String Theory", by Paolo Di Vecchia, and in The Beginning of String Theory", by Paolo Di Vecchia and Adam Schwimmer, both available on the arXiv.

Three review papers on the subject, by John Schwarz, are available on the arXiv:

We are glad to make available the following unpublished, and unretrievable preprint, "An almost physical interpretation of the integrand of the n-point Veneziano model", by Holger Bech Nielsen, together with a short comment of the author.

A nice account of "The true story of Fermilab's First Theory Group (1969-71)", by Lou Clavelli, is avalaible on his home page.

Here is a short note by Paul H. Frampton with his personal recollections about "Pre-String Theory" and Yoichiro Nambu.

Errata 

Typos and mistakes discovered in the volume are collected in this errata.
